Case
Study – The Church in Dancu, Moldova.
Establishing a supportive partnership may take a number of years to develop. For
example, we were first introduced to the Baptist Church
in Dancu by another Moldovan
partner, in February 2002. Initial meetings were held
with church leaders and members of the community to
scope the strengths, weaknesses and needs of the village.
We then helped the church to explore/define the gifts
and ministries which it could develop to help the village
meet its needs. From these initial meetings we
helped the church to develop a vision strategy and a
supporting project plan.
The
plan was then used by BREADLINE and
the church to raise funds for the various projects.
Throughout, we have encouraged the church to network
and develop independent links with other charities,
churches, individuals and organisations to help with
training and fundraising for specific projects
Four
years on wonderful things are happening in Dancu. The
church is putting its faith into action and lives are
being changed. A thriving dairy has been built and young
women are being trained to make and sell clothes.
Through
the church's tractor and combine-harvester project, 100 poor farmers
and their families are farming their land again.
These
"mission engine" projects are providing
income to fund evangelical ministries, including children’s
Bible Clubs and support for a local orphanage. There
is a tangible air of hope in the village now. The church
is actively responding to the "cry of its community"
and responding to needs in both word and action. What
a privilege to have been part of this process!
