– Partner Profile
Salekhard
‘Good News’ Church
In 2002 BREADLINE established a partnership with a small, vibrant
Baptist missionary church in Salekhard, North West Siberia.
The church was planted in 1999 to minister to
the minority people groups in the region – Nenets, Khanti
and some Selkup. In October 2000 seven people were baptised, now there are over 50 members. The church has a strong
emphasis on missionary training and outreach and is
working in eight communities on the remote Yamal peninsular,
including the Nenets settlements of Beloyarsk, Aksarka, and
Yar-Sale. |

“The
main goal of our vision is to prepare missionaries for the Yamal
region.”
Pastor
Anatoliy |
In 2003, the
church requested our support to help towards the development
of a mission school for training indigenous mission workers.
The training of local workers began in 2005 and the funds
received from BREADLINE and other Christian agencies were
used for each student’s stipendiary, including costs
of in-situ accommodation, training materials and resources.
Hitherto, these workers would have had to be trained at the
nearest training colleges thousands of kilometres away in
the south of Russia. Now they can train alongside those they
are reaching, saving much time and resources. |

Nenet Mission Worker |
“The
project enables workers to be trained locally and become established
in local communities where they can build the relationships that
are key to modelling a holistic gospel.”
